A map earns its keep when it answers a question. Where's the shut-off? Which lots flood when it rains? Where are our customers, and where aren't they? What's overdue this month? We take what you may already know, scattered across drawings, spreadsheets and people's heads, and turn it into answers anyone can see.
Layered Insights GIS is a small, independent practice based in North Georgia. Location is what we map, not what limits us.
Approach
Start with the question, then pick the tool.
A lot of GIS work goes sideways because it starts with a platform decision instead of a question about the data. We start with what you're trying to see and who needs to see it, then pick the tools that fit — Leaflet, ArcGIS Online, Python, whatever gets there cleanest.
That comes from building GIS from nothing and living with every data decision along the way, good and bad.
What you can count on
- One point of contact. No hand-offs between a sales team and a delivery team — you talk to the person doing the work.
- Data that outlives the project. We build pipelines and standards meant to keep working after we leave.
- Plain-language handoff. Documentation and training written for the person who inherits this system, not just the person who built it.

How we work
- Document. Gather what you already have: drawings, records, spreadsheets, and what the people who know the place can tell us.
- Organize. Structure it so it holds together and can answer questions years from now, not just today.
- Design. Shape it around the questions you actually ask, for the person who needs the answer.
- Build. Deliver it where you'll use it: floor plans, web maps, apps, the portal, your own GIS.
- Ask. Which unit keeps leaking? Where's the shut-off? Who fixed it last? You get the answer.
